Our story of legitimacy, rooted in sixty years of service
Samuru Gituto Farmers Co-operative Society Limited was founded in 1964 by genuine farmer-members in Murang'a County. This page tells the story of who we are, what we hold, and why our registration, our land, and our members are the authoritative record of this society.

Born in 1964, before Kenya was young
On 10th September 1964, a group of Murang'a coffee farmers came together and formally registered their society under the Co-operative Societies Act, Cap. 490, Section 6(3). The Commissioner for Co-operative Development issued Certificate of Registration CS/No. 1218 — a document that still exists and is held by the legitimate committee today.
From the beginning, members pooled land, effort and resources. Title deeds were drawn for every allocated parcel. Names, ID numbers, and contribution records were kept. These are not claims — they are records still on file, available for inspection by any authorised government authority.

Over 817 paid-up members — with records to prove it
Our membership register is not a list of names on paper. Every entry carries a national ID number, a signature, and a contribution record. These records trace back decades and were verified again at our Special General Meeting of 31 January 2026, attended by 180 members.
Members hold individual land allocations, and the corresponding title deeds are secured by the legitimate management committee. These deeds are the foundation of each member family's stake in the society — proof that this is a real, living community, not a paper entity.
Another group, the same name — and why it matters
In 2016, former officials who had failed to return the original certificate — claiming it was lost — enabled the registration of a separate entity under the same society name, with a different certificate number: CS/25334. The Murang'a County Co-operative Commissioner formally flagged this irregularity to the Commissioner for Co-operative Development in 2019.
In 2025, the original society reported to the Ministry that this group had fraudulently submitted audit accounts under our CS number. The individual who signed those accounts as treasurer is under active DCI investigation for theft of official documents and the society seal. The chairman listed on those fraudulent documents had already passed away.
